Spirit Portrait of Dulcie by May and Lizzie Bangs

A so-called Spirit Portrait by May and Lizzie Bangs, American mediums. The sisters performed seances and painted portraits of deceased people without ever having met them. They were active in Chicago from the 1870s until the early 1920s, though much of their work was discredited. This portrait is of Dulcie, spirit guide of Reverend Ann Throndsen, a staff medium at Camp Chesterfield (home of the Indiana Association of Spiritualists), from 1900 until her death
