Three bedeswomen of Castle Rising, Norfolk
Three bedeswomen of Castle Rising, near Sandringham in Norfolk. When these elderly women enter the almshouses (known collectively as Trinity Hospital) they are required to wear an old Welsh costume, including a distinctive red cloak and black pointed hat, to church on Sundays. The charity was founded by the Howard family in 1614, and the women still wear the Howard badge on their cloaks
