The Carnegie Hero Medal -- He Serves God Best Who Most Nobly Serves Humanity'. Depicted at the centre are a naked man and an angel with protecting wings. The Carnegie Hero Fund Commission was established in 1904 to recognise those who perform acts of heroism in civilian life. Those chosen for recognition receive the Carnegie Medal and become eligible for scholarship aid and other benefits
