Irish Guards with shamrock
A group of Irish Guards who have just been presented with a sprig of shamrock each on St Patrick's Day (17 March) by a member of the royal family. The Irish Guards were formed in 1900, and the shamrock custom dates back to 1901 when Princess Alexandra made the presentation for the first time
