Lord Haldane and Sir John French
Lord Haldane (Richard Burdon Sanderson Haldane, 1st Viscount Haldane) and Sir John French (Field Marshal John Denton Pinkstone French, 1st Earl of Ypres) during the Great Manoeuvres of the 1st and 2nd Divisions of the Aldershot Command in the Thames Valley. In 1905 Haldane was appointed Secretary of State for War, and French was Inspector-General of the Army from 1907 until 1912
