Rehearsal for unveiling of Victoria Memorial
A rehearsal for the unveiling of the Victoria Memorial, a Grade I listed building at the centre of Queen's Gardens in front of Buckingham Palace, Central London. The sculptor was Sir Thomas Brock, and the surround was constructed by the architect Sir Aston Webb from 2300 tons of white marble. A large statue of Queen Victoria faces towards The Mall, while the other sides of the monument contain statues of the Angel of Justice, the Angel of Truth, and Charity. At the top is Victory with two seated figures. There is a nautical theme, with mermaids, mermen and a hippogriff, suggesting the UK's naval power
