Scene from Shakespeare's Henry VIII
A scene from Shakespeare's play, Henry VIII, in a production by Herbert Beerbohm Tree at His Majesty's Theatre, London. The production opened in 1910, was revived for the London Shakespeare Festival in 1911, and was repeated again in 1912. Tree played Cardinal Wolsey. Other actors were Violet Vanbrugh (Queen Katherine), Arthur Bourchier (King Henry) and Laura Cowie (Anne Bullen). This scene shows the full court, with Anne standing on the left and Wolsey sitting on the right. Those wearing sheep heads centre stage are taking part in a masque. ~~(6 of 6)
