Willows Airship above St Paul's Cathedral, London

A Willows Airship flying above St Paul's Cathedral in the City of London. People on the street and on open-topped buses look up in fascination. The Willows airships were a series of pioneering airships designed and built by Ernest Thompson Willows (1886-1926) in the first decade of the 20th century. The first airship, Willows No. 1, flew in 1905 and the last, the Willows No. 5, in 1913. The one in this photograph is probably No. 2, rebuilt as No. 3, in which Willows flew from London to Paris in 1910
