First test run of a new submarine, 1942
The German shipyard industry during the war concentrated exclusively on the production of new submarines. This was the only way to survive against the Allies at sea. Attempts to overcome the British Navy by armament had already failed miserably in the First World War. Consequently, 1170 new submarines have been built
