French volunteers under German leadership when boxing, 1

The Legion des Volontaires Francais, later the Division Charlemagne, was a formation of the Waffen SS and was made up voluntarily collaborating Frenchmen. It was officially established in 1940 as the Legion of French Volunteers Against Bolshevism, starting 1942 they were increasingly employed on the Eastern Front as members of the Waffen SS. The picture shows soldiers of the volunteer corps when boxing in a camp near Versailles-le-Chesnay. Date created: 15.05.1944
