Hanna Reitsch, first female German captain and test pilot
Hanna Reitsch, seen here with golden airplane clasp and the Iron Cross 1st and 2 Class. In 1937 she was the first female captain and first test pilot of the German Air Force. She survived several crashes. In 1942 she became the first woman distinguished with the Iron Cross II and the Iron Cross I, which she received personally from Adolf Hitler
