The Maxmonument in Munich
The Maxmonument, also called Max II Monument, was erected in honor of the Bavarian King Maximilian II. The four seated figures at the bottom of the pedestal are the allegorical representations of the four virtues of the rulers: a young man with a palm branch and cornucopia (middle) symbolizes love of peace and a woman with book and sword (right) justice. Wisdom is represented by a woman with a torch (left) and strength by a man with helmet and sword sitting on a reclining lion (on the picture is not visible). The cherubs above hold shields.
