Monument for Richard Wagner, 1903
The Richard-Wagner-monument in Berlin on the edge of the Tiergarten, which was created in 1903 by the sculptor Gustav Eberlein and unveiled on 1. October 1903. Made entirely of marble, Richard Wagner is enthroned on several step-like applied pedestals. On his lap is a bunch of music paper, over which he holds his right hand that is clenched to a fist...His left hand he has easily put down on a sphinx head. His finely carved face looks towards heaven, and on his face one can recognize his brilliant spirit. At the lowest step sits Tannhaeuser, who is turned towards the composer with splendid clothing and flowing hair
