Engraving depicting a Jewish collector of old clothes. The clothes would be sorted, and anything which could be was revived and resold in the poor districts of the city. Those which were beyond further use were sorted, the cotton and linen being sent for paper making, the woollen ones to be processed and made into inferior felt type of fabrics
