Liu Hua's Life and Accomplishments

Liu Hua (1899-1925), from Biyi, Sichuan Province, a member of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), was one of the main leaders of the May Thirtieth Movement. The May Thirtieth Movement was a major labour and patriotic movement against imperialist powers led by the Chinese Communist Party. He was originally an apprentice of the Zhonghua Book Company's printing factory. Zhonghua Book Company are Chinese publishing houses that focus on the humanities, especially classical Chinese works. Liu was a work-study student at Shanghai University starting from November of 1923, he was then sent to work at the Huxi Worker Club by the CCP and led the strikes in February 1925 during the May Thirtieth Movement. When the Shanghai Federation of Trade Unions was formed, he was elected as Vice-Chairman. Liu was secretly murdered by warlords on December 17th, 1925
