Meleager. Engraving from Tableaux du temple des muses (1655) by Michel de Marolles (1600 - 1681), known as the abbe de Marolles a French churchman and translator. In Greek mythology, Meleager was a hero venerated in his temenos at Calydon in Aetolia. He was already famed as the host of the Calydonian boar hunt in the epic tradition that was reworked by Homer.
