A Scene from a Korean movie Distraint of Life (1958)

In Korean: ???? (1958). It is the story of a man that gives up on morality and law in order to get richer. From corruption, bribery, fraud to tax avoidance, the man is eventually caught by the justice. In an effort to preserve his fortune, he stages a death scene, as seen in the image. Yet, the staging ends without the expected outcome: he will have to live a different life, a poor one. We notice the emphasis on morality and ethics in an era Korea started to expand its economy. It may also capture the popular view on the destiny of Koreans who collaborated with the Japanese during the occupation
