The painting depicts the King of France kneeling with a bishop to ask forgiveness of Saint Giles afer a member of the Royal Hunt had shot at Saint Giles Hind (Deer), but injured the saint protecting the Hind. Part of an alterpiece. By The Master of Saint Giles, named from the two paintings in the collection depicting scenes from St Giles life. Dated 1500
