In November 1945, the Kuomintang Government of China, mobilized troops to attack the areas under Communist control. This signalled the restarting of the Chinese Civil War. The Central Committee of the Communist Party of China issued a call for the people to mobilize and use all means to stop the civil war. Students in Kunming first raised the banner of protest.
