Weekly Commentary, Magazine that Opposed Warlord

Weekly Commentary was founded in December of 1918 by Li Dazhao and Chen Duxiu in Beijing. This magazine promptly reflected and commented on major events within and outside of China, and challenged warlord control, actively promoted new cultural movements. It was shut down by the Beiyang warlord government in August of 1919. Beiyang warlord government was one of the warlord forces of the Republic of China, composed of the main generals of the New Beiyang Army after Yuan Shikai took power
