Armour and seal of Charlemagne
Suit of armour and seal (Karolus) of Charlemagne or Charles the Great, King of the Franks, Emperor of the Romans, 748-814. He wears Frankish national costume with Roman elements. Helmet with crowm, quilted tunic (tunica) decorated with shields, trousers (feminalia), leggings (tibialia) wrapped with bands (crura fasciolis).
