Brinde feast held on September 25, 1805, by the Governor of Tigray, Abyssinia (Ethiopia), seated on a divan. The master of ceremonies holds a long staff, a fasting man holds up a cross, and a boy scavenges under the table. Female slaves bring teff bread dipped in chicken and mutton curry to seated men.
