He wears a striped jacket in Scottish wool with high collar, goatskin boots, claque (cocked hat) with Scottish bows, and carries a large stick. Handcolored etching by Auguste Etienne Guillaumot Jr. from Costumes of the Directory, Rouquette, Paris, 1875. The etchings were made from designs by Eugene Lacoste and Draner after prints of the era 1795-99
