Figures of Melancholy and Raving Madness at Bedlam

Representation of the Capital Figures of Bethlem Hospital Gate, London, 18th century. The stone pillars at the entrance gates to Bethlem Hospital in Moorfields were capped by figures of Melancholy and Raving Madness in chains carved in Portland stone by sculptor Caius Gabriel Cibber, 1680.
