First minister of the King of Whydah, Slave Coast, Africa
A favourite or first minister of the King of Whydah, Slave Coast, Africa (now Benin). In hooded cloak, sash belt, pantalons and sandals. At the king's death, the favourite was sacrificed along with the king's harem. Favori du Roi de Juida. Handcoloured copperplate engraving by J.
