John Carew, 1622-1660, was a politician, supporter of the Fifth Monarchists, regicide of King Charles I. Tried, hanged, drawn and quartered on 16 October 1660 at Charing Cross. With his autograph and seal. Within a frame decorated with vignettes of skull and cross bones, chains and executioner's axe, a man hanging from a gibbet at Tyburn, a condemned man on a sled, the Tower of London, Newgate Prison.
