John Cook, executed at Charing Cross. John Cooke, 1608-1660, first Solicitor General of the English Commonwealth, parliamentarian and regicide. Tried, hanged, drawn and quartered on 16 October 1660. Within a frame decorated with vignettes of skull and cross bones, chains and executioner's axe, a man hanging from a gibbet at Tyburn, a condemned man on a sled, the Tower of London, Newgate Prison.
