Knight of the Order of the Golden Fleece
Knight in ceremonial robes of the Order of the Golden Fleece, founded in 1430 by Phillip III the Good, Duke of Burgundy. In crimson velvet mantle, habit and chaperon (hood) lined with white satin. The golden fleece suspended from a thick gold chain. Copied from an illustration by Christoph Weigel in Philipp Bonanni's Ritter-Ordern, 1728.
