Miss Martha Ray (1742-1779), English singer and actress, mistress to John Montagu, 4th Earl of Sandwich. She was shot in the head with a pistol by infatuated admirer/scorned lover and stalker Rev. James Hackman as she climbed into a coach in Covent Garden. Portrait of the actress within a decorative oval border above a vignette of her murder.
