Self-portrait of Hans Holbein, 1498-1554, German Renaissance painter to the court of Henry VIII of England. In wide-brim hat, slit-sleeved mantle over doublet, under an arch with Tudor roses. Inscription: Johannes Holbein I.F. Pictor Celeber Civis Basilensis immortale Patriae Britanniaeque Decus.
