Memorial to Royal Irish Regiment: men of 2nd Battalion Royal Infantry Regiment in La Bascule and area of Brussells. The regiment, under the leadership of RQMS Fitzpatrick held this poistion until nightfall enableing the BEF to withdraw in relative safety from the battle of Mons. Fitzpatrick was awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal
