Concrete ammunition bunker
Polygon Wood was an important position in October 1914 when it was held by the British during the battle for the Menin Road. It was lost in April 1915 during the German gas attack of 2nd Battle of Ypres and not re-taken until September 1917 when the Australians took the wood after five days of furious fighting
