This was the feature held by the 11th Sherwood Foresters on 11th June when the Austrians launched their attack. Capt Edward Brittain, brother of Vera Brittain was killed near here Asiago - Altopiano - is 1, 100 metres high. Prior to 1914 served by rack and pinion railway to Asiago and engineers constructed mulaterria and cable ways to move supplies up from Venetian plain
