Nimy Bridge, Mons. This where German and British troops first encountered each other (on the Western Front) on 23 August 1914. The original bridge was held by 4th Batt. Royal Fusiliers on Aug 23rd. Lt Dease and Pvt. Godley were both awarded V.C.s for their action at this point
