Fields of Battle - Ypres
Sanctuary Wood, Ypres. Elephant Iron roofing covering a trench at Santuary Wood. These curved sheets of corrugated steel are immensely strong and there is story (unconfirmed) that they were originally made by German foundry for use in tunnels for Paris Metro. Extensively used for roofing dug-outs and bunkers and even today still used b farmers for animal shelters
