Champagne - Fort de la Pompelle - Designed by Sere de Rivieres, built 1880-83. Unarmed in 1913 and captured by germans on Sept 4 1914. Recaptured by 138th RI on Sept 24 and thereafter keystone of defence of Reims for next 4 years so heavily bombared by Germans
