Hindenburg Line. Riqueval Bridge
Hindenburg Line. Riqueval Bridge. North of Bellenglise the St Quentin - Cambrai canal formed a formidable part of the Hindenburg Line. The tunnel was used as a shelter. The Riqueval Bridge was captured on 29th Sept 1918 by the 137th Brigade - Staffords. Capt A H Charlton led a surprise attack in thick fog and managed to capture the bridge before the Germans could blow it up
