Montfaucon d'Argonne - Observation Post
These are two of the observation posts to the south of the hill on the site of the old destroyed village. Taken by the Germans in 1914 and thereafter the ancient monastic site became a heavily fortified position based around Hill 336 with numerous OP posts being built. Finally taken by the Americans in Sept 1918 the original village was totally destroyed and never re-built
