Sunrise at Nery Battlefield, France
The BEF and German military saw action at Nery as part of the great retreat from Mons in 1914. The German forces ambushed the British who were greatly outnumbered. The BEF lost nearly all artillery within a matter of minutes leaving a single gun which returned fire for several hours until British reinforcements arrived resulting in the German's retreat
