Voie Sacree
Voie Sacree - the road from Verdun to Bar le Duc was the one road into Verdun. In Feb 1916 a special force of 8, 200 engineers was formed to keep the road open. At the height of the battle 90, 000 men along with 50, 000 tons of materials a week travelled along this road in a process known as the Noria after the continuous North African water wheel
