A copperplate engraving of a map of China, from 1625, made by travel writer Samuel Purchas (c. 1575-1626), based on Matteo Ricci's map. Ricci (1552-161), an Italian Jesuit priest, was a founder of the Jesuit China Mission. He is shown in the upper left of this map
