Ambrogio Spinola, Italian Military Leader
Don Ambrogio Spinola Doria (1569-1630) was an Italian aristocrat and officer won a number of important battles for the Spanish crown. During the Eighty Years War he was pivotal figure at the Siege of Ostend and the Siege of Groenlo, During the Thirty Years War he was a pivotal figure during the Palatinate campaign, Siege of Julich Siege of Bergen-op-Zoom, and the Siege of Breda. He was appointed then a Knight of the Order of the Golden Fleece in 1605
