Astronaut Alvin Drew Spacewalk, 2011
NASA astronaut Alvin Drew participated in the Space Shuttle STS-133 mission's first spacewalk as construction and maintenance continued on the International Space Station in 2011. During the six-hour, 34-minute spacewalk, Drew and fellow astronaut Steve Bowen (out of frame) performed numerous installations and maintenance tasks. Drew was the final African-American to fly on board a space shuttle, and is the last African-American astronaut to fly in space, as of 2019
