Averroes, Muslim Polymath
Medieval philosophers relied heavily on the works of Aristotle, whose system of logic had been handed down in the translations and summaries of Boethius and in the commentaries of such Arab thinkers as the Spaniard Averroes. Averroes, also known as Ibn Rushd (1126-1198), was an Andalusian Muslim polymath and scholar of Islamic philosophy and theology, logic, psychology, and all of the sciences. He is considered a founder of secular thought in Western Europe
