Beauty's Lot, Hairstyle, 18th Century
Beauty's lot. A skeleton of a woman with a large fashionable wig. In the mid-to-late 18th century, enormous and elaborate wigs were in vogue for aristocratic women. These wigs were often very heavy, weighted down with pomades, powders, and other ornamentation, and they became the subject of humor and satire in illustrations.
