Camille Flammarion, French Astronomer
Nicolas Camille Flammarion (1842-1925) was a French astronomer and author of popular science works, early science fiction novels, and works about Spiritism and related topics. He published the magazine L'Astronomie and maintained a private observatory at Juvisy-sur-Orge. In 1867, he entered the French Aerostatic Society and made 12 ascensions.
