Emancipation Proclamation
The Emancipation Proclamation was an executive order issued by President Abraham Lincoln declaring the freedom of all slaves in the Confederate States of America. It was established on January 1, 1863. This is a facsimile that was sold at the Northwestern Sanitary Fair in Chicago in 1865 to benefit the Soldiers Home. The original document was destroyed in the Chicago Fire in 1871
