Endoplasmic reticulum, TEM
Transmission electron microscope (TEM) showing large dilations of rough endoplasmic reticulum. These dilations appear in damaged cells by a long list of causes but prove the reticular nature of interconnected cavities. Note that the Golgi apparatus located on top of the micrograph is not dilated, proving that it is not physically connected with the endoplasmic reticulum
