Endoplasmic reticulum, TEM
Colored micrograph of a transmission electron microscope (TEM) showing large dilations of rough endoplasmic reticulum (light yellow). These dilations appear in damaged cells by a long list of causes but prove the reticular nature of interconnected cavities. Note that nearby cells do not show dilations suggesting that the damage is limited to a specific cell type
