Ferdinand Magellan, Portuguese Explorer
Ferdinand Magellan (1480 - April 27, 1521) was a Portuguese explorer whose expedition reached the Spice Islands and returned home via the Indian Ocean to complete the first circumnavigation of the globe. Magellan did not complete the journey, as he was killed in the Philippine islands, 1521
